Just got a Fritzbox 7590 and trying to switch from my Huawei 659 on a FTTB account with TPG. Having problems getting the SIP credentials. Any help would be great, I have tried a couple of the methods described and have hit a bit of a brick wall. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Damien

Now for some reason the iinet Toolbox still says that my account is “Installation In Progress”, despite a couple of days passing. Still, I will just hope that fixes itself eventually…

cheers,

Malcolm

Good news… I have my Fritzbox working with the new VDSL connection.

Extracting the SIP credentials from the TP-Link was as described (once I overcame the confusion caused by the router admin page using HTML frames!).

SIP registration and outgoing calls are working. Incoming I get a recorded message but that was already the case a day or two ago… hopefully just means they are porting the number. My toolbox access has not been switched over to Novus (the new FTTB billing etc platform) yet.

Thank you for your help! Glad I didn’t have to write my own TR-069 proxy, I suspect I wouldn’t have got it done this week 😉

Will update once more when I have something more on the incoming VOIP calls.

cheers,

Malcolm

There’s just so much wrong here. It’s not safe to use a modem/router that leaks through the web interface like this and expects JavaScript to be adequate protection. It’s not safe to use a modem/router if you don’t have admin access and can’t examine/change configuration. It’s not safe to use a modem/router with TR-069 automatic configuration enabled, because an accidental or malicious change on the configuration server could completely compromise your home network.

The provided router/access-point is now a TP-Link Archer VR1600v.

According to info here, with firmware as of Nov 2019 there are simple ways to get an admin password and extract the SIP credentials.

I’ll follow up once I have given it a try.

I’m about to try setting up TPG FTTB on my Fritzbox so this detailed information will be a great help!

As I commented on your other TPG post (sorry, probably the wrong spot), I’m hoping to get SIP going as well so I can keep using our DECT phone.

cheers,

Malcolm

All good! Now have it working – it was only on close inspection that the number for registration had a slight typo in it – seems this is what the fritzbox uses for rego, not the section for Account Information/Username. Or at least at one stage of the login anyway.

Now it’s working perfectly, thanks!!

Nigel.

Thanks for the reply and apologies for my delayed one – been out of the country.

Yep, I’ve set the VLAN correctly for the service and extracted the phone password from the dodgy TPLink modem they provided with the service after gaining root access.

On the FritzBox settings, one thing was the phone area code, I have two boxes, first one is ‘0’ & I set the second to ‘2’.

I’ll fire up the TPLink one a little later and have a check over the settings to see if I missed anything or if there’s a slight difference to yours (I don’t think there will be though).

Will let you know how I go, cheers!

Nigel.
