You just have to check this out (warning, telnet lin, opens in terminal window, if you don’t know what telnet is, forget this). It’s a complete, subtitled rendition of Star Wars episode IV in streaming VT100.

This shows us that:
- The ASCII art scene isn’t dead yet
- Star Wars is really popular
- Telnet lives!
- Some people have way too much spare time
Ignoring how pointless it all is, you’ve gotta give it to these guys. They’ve not only managed to render and subtitle the whole movie in ASCII, they’ve managed to turn the animation into VT100 commands and write a servlet that delivers it over telnet with the correct timing.
